Giant trees and old trees have vitality and sprit that shows they survived so many more years than human beings have.
These trees are symbols of the genuis that grieves for the dead and they changes it figure as the weather they go through for so many years.
Some of them warped and prasite to the others, some of them get old and rotted away, and some of them strongly grow right up to the sky.
These trees admonished and sometimes prified people. After my parents died, the memories of my childhood in the very small snowy village gradually revived and getting together into the shape as my work.
Probably this series is showing the bond that has been existed in very deep inside.

巨樹、古木には人の寿命を遥かに超え、生き続けた生命力と精神性がある。
古くから人々の信仰の対象でありその土地の守り神として死者の霊を弔う象徴として存在を誇示してきたその姿は、多年の気候風土の変化に直面して変形異型し、おいそれとは近づけぬ程に姿を変えるものである。
歪み締め付けられ他のものに寄生し同化するもの、老い朽ち果て破裂崩壊していくもの、あるいは天に向かって直立し太く逞しく突き進むもの。 それらの姿に人は戒められ清められ、あるいは勇め希望を与えられることもある。
私は幼少の頃、東北の雪深い寒村で育った。その狭い集落の中で記憶の欠片は両親の死後ある姿になって明瞭になろうとしている。
この「樹霊」のシリーズは自己の奥深くに息づいている一対の絆を表わそうとしているのかもしれない。
